Acid Stripping & Washing Off
The wheel is placed in a specially designed cylindrical stripping tank: This helps to break up and remove the existing coating of the wheel, prior to blast cleaning. MSS re-coat the whole wheel front, back and tyre well, and as such it is imperative that the original coating is completely removed (particularly on front face). With the increasing stubbornness of original manufacturers coatings the acid stripping process is very important so as to minimise the effect of blast cleaning on the finished cleaning profile. Upon removal of the heel from the stripper it is immediately washed off, with a pressure washer, in our purpose built wash off bays. If further stripping is required then it is put back in stripping tanks, otherwise it is sent for blast cleaning.
Notes;
Plastic centre caps cannot be done at all: The exception to this is if the customer provides the paint and the centre caps can be simply prepared and wet sprayed.
Suitability of the wheel casting to be submerged in the stripper cannot be guaranteed, and MSS will accept no responsibility for any damage: This is particularly important when dealing with Magnesium Alloys.
